Luis Pedro, Director of Services and Patient Experience to wing walk for Haven House Children’s Hospice

Normally you fly inside a plane rather than actually on it! However when Haven House Children’s Hospice contacted The Holly to say they were looking for a business leader from the local community to take on a unique challenge, we knew one dare devil who could rise to it.

Step forward Mr Luis Andre Pedro Director of Services and Patient Experience and Aspen Healthcare Group Hospitality and Services Lead.

Luis will be taking part in the Haven House Charity Wing Walk on Saturday 3rd September!
For this hair raising event, Luis will be physically standing on the wings of a small plane, during a ten minute flight, offering an ultimate experience that will include zooms and climbs at speeds of up to 130mph.

Luis will be able to wave at friends and family watching below, no doubt pulling some priceless expressions too!

Setting a great example with The Holly’s Charity Initiatives Group
Luis has always been heavily involved in The Holly’s Charity Initiatives group. The group meet regularly, raising money for various charities, with Haven House being the main beneficiary.

When Haven House contacted The Holly to say they were looking for five local directors to take part in the Wing Walk, Luis jumped at the chance!

Speaking about the upcoming wing walk, Luis said, “I’m excited and just a bit nervous to be taking part in this wing walking event. Haven House is an amazing charity, and at The Holly we try to support them any way we can – what better way to raise money than sitting on the wing of an aeroplane at 130mph.

This is a once in a lifetime event so I really want to raise as much money as possible to help support Haven House. I’m looking forward to my feet touching solid ground again! ”

To complete this challenge, Luis needs to raise a minimum of £750 for Haven House Children’s Hospice but we’re hoping to raise even more than that.

About Luis Pedro 
Luis Pedro, Director of Services and Patient Experience at The Holly Private Hospital and Aspen Healthcare Group Hospitality and Services Lead is originally from Portugal. He completed his hotel management degree in Switzerland and his general management degree in the USA. Luis has worked in top hotels across the world before coming to London eleven years ago. During his career he has won a variety of awards for customer service. Luis has been working at The Holly and for the Aspen group for three years, leading a number of projects to improve customer service at The Holly for example, completely enhancing the guest menu and bringing in a concierge and guest relations service. He is now working on various customer service projects at sister hospital, Highgate Hospital.

About Haven House Children’s Hospice 
Haven House Children’s Hospice supports families and cares for children and young people with life-limiting conditions across North and East London and West Essex.  They care for children and young people from birth to age 19 who have life-limiting conditions and who are unlikely to reach adulthood. They help families by providing a range of services that include day, short break and end of life care, together with therapeutic play in the community. Families can find the support they need when they need it most at no cost to themselves.
