Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine dealing with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the eye and vision.

At the award-winning The Holly Hospital we offer outpatient clinics with consultant ophthalmologists every weekday in our dedicated ophthalmic suite, complete with visual fields booth.

Should you require further treatment, the hospital has five fully-equipped theatres where surgery can be carried out. There is little or no waiting time for surgery and treatment can start as soon as patients are ready.

Our friendly and experienced consultant ophthalmologists are all experts at diagnosing and treating eye conditions. They can provide treatment for a variety of ophthalmic eye conditions including:

  • Age-related macular degeneration
  • Blind eye removal and rehabilitative socket surgery
  • Cataracts
  • Corneal disease and conditions
  • Diabetic eye disease
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Eyelid cancers
  • Glaucoma
  • Lens implants for visual correction
  • Macular hole
  • Oculoplastics for eyelid malpositions, lumps, tumours and cysts
  • Paediatric eye problems
  • Squint
  • Uveitis
  • Watery eyes and blocked tearducts

Please note that you will need a referral letter from your optician or GP, or you can see one of our Private GPs, if you prefer.
