Hospital Director to run Virgin Money London Marathon 2018 to raise money for St Clare Hospice
David Henderson, Hospital Director at The Holly Private Hospital is running the Virgin Money London Marathon on 22 April 2018 to raise money for St Clare Hospice, near Harlow.
Speaking about this challenge David said,
“I had a ‘big’ birthday last year and wanted to do something special to mark the occasion, and to prove I’m not over the hill just yet. The London Marathon seemed like the right idea. I’m delighted to be running for St Clare Hospice who provide outstanding hospice care to people with life-limiting illnesses, their family and carers, in the local community.
My training is well underway and I’m on the countdown now to the big day.”
Sarah Thompson, Chief Executive at St Clare Hospice said:
“I am really pleased to have this support from David and The Holly Private Hospital. As a local charity we rely on voluntary donations and partnerships with local businesses to keep running our services and it’s always fantastic when a local business offers us their support.”
The Holly we will be running some fundraising events at the hospital to help David meet his fundraising target of £4000 starting with a cake sale on Tuesday 13th February.

About St Clare Hospice
St Clare Hospice is a charity providing specialist palliative care to improve the lives of people living with terminal or life-limiting illness in West Essex and the borders of East Hertfordshire. Our approach to care gives patients, their families and carers, the confidence to cope so that, together, they can enjoy the best possible quality of life, whether at home or in the Hospice. With limited NHS funding, we need to raise most of the £4.2million it costs each year to provide our vital services. We therefore rely on our local community to help us raise money each year so we can continue being there for local families facing one of the most difficult journeys in life.
