The Holly Private Hospital has just received one of the UK’s top award for cancer care.
The Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) was presented to the leading private hospital, following a rigorous assessment of its Chemotherapy Suite as well as the rest of the hospital ensuring it meets the high standards required by patients receiving cancer treatment.
The award is the first in the UK that specifically assesses how well the entire hospital provides support and care to people affected by cancer.
In meeting MQEM standards the hospital is demonstrating that it is:
- welcoming and accessible to all;
- respectful of people’s privacy and dignity;
- supportive to users’ comfort and well-being;
- giving choice and control to people using your service;
- listening to the voice of the user.
Dr Lorraine Kelly, Director of Nursing and Clinical Services at The Holly Private Hospital proudly unveiled the Macmillan plaque at a celebratory event on Monday 12 June 2017. Speaking about the award Lorraine said,
“It is a huge honour to receive the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM). This award highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare and shows we are succeeding in delivering the highest levels of care to our patients.
The cancer journey is difficult but we want to make it as comfortable and as successful as possible for our patients, and do our very best for them.
I would like to thank our team for their constant hard work and a special thanks to them for their commitment in preparing for the Macmillan inspection.”
Madeleine Knox, Partnership Quality Lead for Macmillan Cancer Support in Essex, said:
“When you’re diagnosed with cancer you can spend a lot of time in hospital and you want to know you’re getting the best treatment, information and support in the most supportive environment. The MQEM recognises things that are really important to people living with cancer – such as receiving a welcoming greeting, the use of natural light and the availability of quiet, private rooms. Congratulations to the team on their achievement.”
