Double award wins for Aspen Healthcare
Aspen Healthcare, including Holly House Hospital, was awarded for outstanding excellence in training at the 2011 Independent Healthcare Awards.
The Laing & Buisson’s annual Independent Healthcare Awards are held to celebrate achievements within the independent health and social care sector and pay tribute to individuals, teams and organisations who have demonstrated professional skills, management leadership, excellence and spirit of enterprise during the year. An expert panel of industry judges reviewed and assessed all the finalists’ entries in a wide range of categories before awarding first place to Aspen Healthcare in the Excellence in Training category.
The Excellence in Training win was awarded in recognition of the innovative Managing in a Care Environment (MICE) training programme that was established and continues to be managed by previous Holly House Hospital Director, Jackie Row, and Aspen Healthcare’s Hilary Gonszor. The course allows staff to enhance their knowledge and skills to help them develop plans for improvement in quality and working practices at Aspen facilities. The judges were particularly impressed by the dramatic improvement in the organisation’s services and significant cost-savings, as well as the overwhelmingly positive impact on staff with 37% of those completing the course achieving future promotion.
Aspen Healthcare is the owner and operator of four highly-regarded private acute hospitals and three outpatient clinics, providing medical services ranging from outpatient clinics, diagnostic imaging and surgery to specialised cancer treatments and services such as screening, physiotherapy, fertility and cosmetic surgery. Aspen Healthcare’s Parkside Hospital also won the highly coveted Nursing Practice category awarded to nurse Eszter Bakody for the introduction of a Pre-Operative Assessment (POA) service for elective orthopaedic joint replacement and elective amputee patients at Parkside Hospital.
