The Holly Private Hospital Shortlisted for prestigious Nursing Times Awards
Dr Lorraine Kelly, PhD, Director of Nursing and Clinical Services has been shortlisted in the Nurse Leader category at the 2017 Nursing Times Awards, to be held on 2 November at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
Now in their 27th year, the Nursing Times Awards are the most respected and relevant awards in the nursing and healthcare sector and offer much-deserved recognition for the innovative and excellent care that nurses at all levels provide across the UK.
The Nursing Times Awards represents true excellence in nursing and patient care, bringing together the best nurses in the industry. With 22 categories, the coveted awards cover a wide range of achievements within the nursing profession.
The Nursing Times Awards had a record-breaking year for entries and the judges were extremely impressed with the high standard.
Speaking about the awards Lorraine said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for the Nursing Times Awards – and especially in the Nurse Leader Category. It’s fantastic and this really is a dream come true. The Nursing Times Awards are the Oscars of the nursing world so it’s an absolute honour to be shortlisted. I’d like to say a big thank you to all the team at The Holly Private Hospital for all their hard work and support in delivering our clinical strategy and in helping us provide safe, person-centred care, high quality care.”
David Henderson, Hospital Director of The Holly Private Hospital said, “We are hugely proud of everything Lorraine has achieved here at The Holly and in her previous roles. Lorraine is an inspirational nurse leader and completely dedicated to improving quality and to putting safety at the heart of everything we do. To be shortlisted in the prestigious Nursing Times Awards is testament to Lorraine passion, drive and determination to deliver the very best possible care to our patients. Congratulations to Lorraine on this very deserved nomination and best of luck in the next round!”
Jenni Middleton, editor of Nursing Times said:
“The Nursing Times Awards gives us an opportunity each year to see outstanding quality improvement projects from nurses and the teams they work with. It never ceases to amaze me that at a time when we see the NHS and the healthcare provider space is so stretched that nurses continue to find the energy, passion and motivation to innovate for the benefit of their patients, service users and residents. Across the board in all clinical areas and care settings – from the community to hospitals to care homes and beyond, we see nurses challenging the status quo and working hard to provide better quality, safer care and a better experience for those who use their services. The Nursing Times Awards is truly a celebration of their hard work, drive and talent. We salute them, and I congratulate everyone who is shortlisted. I am looking forward to meeting the finalists as we continue the judging process – and of course celebrating with the winners on the night. Good luck everyone.”
The shortlisted organisations and individual nurses will now complete presentations and interviews to a specific judging panel made up of senior and influential figures from the health sector.
The winners of the 2017 Nursing Times Awards will be announced at the prestigious ceremony on 2 November at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
