The Holly Private Hospital is home to some of the country’s most skilled and experienced consultant urologists, doctors who diagnose and treat problems of the male genitourinary tract and the female urinary system. If your urology doctor wants to look inside your bladder and find out what is causing any problems, you may have a flexible cystoscopy. This test may be recommended if you have blood in your urine, frequent urinary tract infections, problems passing urine or long-lasting pelvic pain.
You are given a local anaesthetic. This means that you are awake during the short procedure, but do not feel any pain. The doctor gently passes a thin, bendy tube called a cystoscope through the urethra (which carries urine out of the body) and into your bladder. This tube has a camera and light on the end. Your doctor can then look closely at the lining of your bladder and urethra. They may take a small tissue sample for testing called a biopsy. The test only takes a few minutes and you can usually go home shortly afterwards.
At The Holly Private Hospital, we have London’s leading consultant urologists who treat bladder and other urinary tract problems. They assess your symptoms, arrange any tests and agree an individual treatment plan with you. We offer an all-inclusive self-pay package for a bladder examination.
Prices for a flexible cystoscopy including any biopsy, routine microscope study and one follow-up appointment start from £1,600 (terms and conditions apply).
