If you are suffering with unexplained and long-term symptoms such as indigestion, abdominal pain, vomiting, or signs of blood loss such as anaemia, passing black motions, or vomiting blood, further investigations may be required. One effective way to find out what is causing these symptoms is through an oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy, sometimes known more simply as a gastroscopy. This is an examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine). The OGD is carried out under local anaesthetic or conscious sedation. The procedure is carried out using a gastroscope, a thin tube holding a camera. This service includes histology: Samples will be taken for microscopic examination.
The procedure will take place in The Holly’s state-of-the-art endoscopy suite, where the very highest standards of quality and safety are met. With all procedures undertaken using the latest techniques in our modern facilities, you’ll be in safe hands at award-winning The Holly Private Hospital. We offer an all-inclusive self-pay package for gastroscopy, with prices starting from £1,595 (T&Cs apply).
