New Chemotherapy Suite for Holly House

Patient-centred care is at the heart of a new chemotherapy service launched recently for patients
at Holly House Hospital. Patients are now able to receive chemotherapy locally rather than having to travel to specialist centres.
Sharon Gatland, Director of Nursing and Clinical Services explains more:
“Traditionally patients from the local area would have to travel to central London or further afield for cancer treatment; but commuting long distances when you are receiving chemotherapy is very difficult.
Holly House is now able to offer the same service that is provided at a specialist cancer centre on your doorstep and this can make a real difference to patients having to cope with difficult and stressful treatments.
This new service also means that our patients receiving treatments from our specialist cancer nurses are also able to access our specialist oncology consultants, GP services, pain management specialists and our physiotherapy team who can offer complementary therapies including acupuncture and stress management treatments.
As Holly House Hospital provides such a wide range of services, we’re able to provide a one-stop-shop of healthcare, advice and support, giving our patients the very highest levels of care.”
Chemotherapy at Holly House Hospital is administered in our new purpose built suite which is fitted with the latest high tech equipment needed to deliver complex treatment. Patients are able to have treatment in their own private room or in a communal setting with other patients. Many enjoying having an opportunity to talk to other people going through the same experience and the opportunity to learn from other patients’ experiences.
Patients receiving chemotherapy at the hospital can benefit from:
- the highest standards of healthcare from an experienced specialist cancer team
- treatment in your own private room or in a communal setting with other patients (depending on what you prefer)
- a warm, welcoming and calming environment
- no waiting times – and treatment when they want
- increased privacy and comfort
- more one-to-one time with specialist cancer professionals
- in-house pharmacy service for chemotherapy drugs.
