About

Mr Zambarakji was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust in 2005. He studied medicine at Dundee University and undertook his residency training at Moorfields Eye Hospital where he subsequently trained as a vitreoretinal fellow (2002-2004). He has a keen interest in imaging retinal diseases and was clinical fellow working on imaging in diabetic retinopathy at The Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham (1996-1998). He was appointed to a retinal fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School in Boston (2004-2005) where he undertook angiogenesis research.

Mr Zambarakji is commited to the delivery of high quality patient care and he has a dedicated team to provide such a service. We aim to provide a one-stop shop for patients who need intravitreal injections and would perform all necessary imaging studies as well as treatment on the same day. Mr Zambarakji performs most of his cataract surgery under topical anaesthesia (no needles!), with the option of having a Consultant Anaesthetist if any sedation is required during the surgery.
