General urology, the comprehensive management of kidney stones including Ultra-Mini PCNL, ureteric stent problems, blood in the urine, urine infections, prostate and bladder symptoms.
Training & background:
Mr Ballaro has been a full time NHS Consultant Urologist for 10 years. He is highly experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of all urological problems in adults and has an interest in the management of kidney stones. He developed and leads the stone service at BHR NHS Trust, and has every year since 2014 consistently published some of the best surgical outcomes for complex renal stone surgery in the country. In his practice at The Holly Private Hospital he offers all treatments for kidney stones including the new Ultra-Mini PCNL.
Mr Ballaro provides a comprehensive urology service dedicated to offering the most suitable procedure to patients on an individualised basis. He is supported by a professional on-line practice management team, which enables easy patient access to results and also offers follow-up medical advice by email. In terms of training Mr Ballaro qualified from The Royal Free Hospital Medical School, London and undertook basic surgical training in Oxford. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of London in 1999, and after being awarded both a Masters Degree in Urology and MD research degree from The Institute of Urology at University College London, he completed higher urological training on the North London Training Scheme. He received further advanced training in complex stone surgery and laparoscopy from nationally and internationally recognised experts.
In addition to his clinical interests, Mr Ballaro enjoys Urological Education and has a research interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques and the physiology of bladder symptoms. Relating to this he has over fifty publications and a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is a recognised London Deanery Trainer of urological surgeons at all levels, and is co-author of the latest edition of the standard medical student textbook ‘Lecture Notes in urology’.
