Training & background:
Tom McAuliffe was born in London. He qualified at Cambridge University and University College Hospital. His orthopaedic training was at the Royal London hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where he was a senior lecturer. He has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Whipps Cross University Hospital for 23 years.
He specialises in hip and knee surgery. He undertakes hip and knee replacements with a special interest in revision surgery. He was a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery. He also specialises in sport injuries and was, for 20 years, an honorary surgeon for a Premier League football club. He also performs knee arthroscopies and anterior cruciate reconstructions.
His research has been in trials of hip and knee replacement and anterior cruciate reconstruction.
