Sotiris Vimplis is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Whipps Cross University Hospital. He undertook his specialist registrar training in Nottingham University Hospitals and the Mid Trent region and completed special skills training in gynaecological oncology, laparoscopic surgery, colposcopy and gynaecological ultrasound. He was awarded the membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2004 and the title of specialisation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2007.
He worked for two years as a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at Queen’s Medical Centre, University Hospital in Nottingham before moving to London and joining Whipps Cross. He is the lead clinican for coloposcopy and gynaecological cancer services at Whipps Cross Hospital. He travels to remote villages in Nepal carrying out surgical camps for charity.
