Clinical interests:
Lower limb surgery including total hip and knee replacement and revision of previous hip and knee replacement; knee arthroscopy including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, and young patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis. Rapid recovery hip and knee replacements.
Training and Background
Mr Matthew Hearth joined Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in January 2009. He obtained his primary medical degree from University College London in 1993. His orthopaedic surgical training was via Guy’s, St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospitals.
Mr Hearth’s initial training in orthopaedics and trauma was supplemented by fellowships in lower limb reconstruction. Further fellowships included Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore King’s College Hospital and travelling fellowships in North America and the UK.
Mr Hearth led the introduction a revolutionary new rapid recovery approach for hip and knee replacement patients at Basildon University Hopsital.
