I am an award winning consultant neurosurgeon with a special interest in treating spinal conditions such neck pain, arm pain, back pain, arm or leg weakness, spinal tumors, slipped disc and slipped vertebrae.  I am currently lead consultant for spinal tumors (metastatic spinal cord compression) and actively engaged in improving treatment for spinal patients at Queen’s hospital.

I am one of the few spine specialists who trained on both side of the Atlantic.  I completed medical training at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital in London and went on to achieve a competitive entry into neurosurgical training in North Thames in London.  During my training I conducted advanced research into the management of spinal conditions under the mentorship of one of the leading spinal experts, Professor Crockard at the National Hospital for Neurology and neurosurgery.  I went on to conduct a highly regarded laboratory based stem-cell research in the treatment of spinal paralysis, which led to landmark peer-reviewed publications and an award of a PhD from UCL.

After neurosurgical training, I was successfully selected for a sought after spinal fellowship training under Prof Michael Fehlings in Toronto, Canada, where I gained advanced knowledge and skill in the management of all aspects of spinal conditions, including specialized training in minimal access spinal surgery (keyhole).

I was honored with multiple awards in my fellowship year, including- best fellow Zimmer award, best presentations at the 14th AO fellows award, best international AANS/CNS Crockard fellow, 1st place award in SpineFest, University of Toronto and best resident/fellow presentation at the Cervical Spine Research Society North America.

Prior to being appointed as a consultant I was selected to represent the UK as 1 of 2 representatives from Europe amongst 6 CSRS international travelling fellows visiting premier spinal institutes in North America including the Rothman’s institute in Philadelphia, Orthocarolina in Charlotte, Hospital for specialist surgery (HSS) in New York and Toronto Western Hospital in Toronto.

I continue to publish research papers in peer-reviewed premier journals of findings that help advance knowledge of our understanding of spinal conditions.  Papers from my publications are sited amongst landmark neurosurgical papers.
