Training and Background
Dr Wilkey qualified in 1988 and has been working as a paediatrician since 1992, training mainly in North London sector this included training at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London Hospital. In 2002 she began practising as a Consultant Paediatrician at the North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) with a special interest in Haematology, Oncology and Rheumatology. In addition covering neonatology which includes preterm babies and newborns and general paediatrics from the birth to 16 years. Dr Wilkey is the Lead for Share care Paediatric Haematology and Oncology with Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College hospital and the Lead the Paediatric haemoglobinpopaties . Until February 2014 she was the lead for Paediatric rheumatology. Due to special interest in chronic haematology conditions she is also leading on transitional care path ways for chronic conditions in the paediatric department.
Dr Wilkey is one of Regional paediatric training programme directors for the North Central and east London. She has also recently been appointed as the Deputy Director of Postgraduate Medical Education at the North Middlesex Hospital. This involves supporting the educational supervisor and the College tutors in training all grades of doctors in the North Middlesex University NHS Trust and Paediatricians in the London deanery . She is also a Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Examiner.
Dr Wilkey has been author and co-author of several abstracts and papers and has an interest in research. Due to her commitment to the NHS over the years she has been awarded number of Clinical Excellence Awards
