Training and Background
Dr. Nabil Kibriya obtained his medical degree from Guys, Kings and St. Thomas’ Medical School, University of London and intercalated a Physiology Bsc (hons). Having completed his radiology training in Liverpool specialising in Interventional Radiology, he completed a fellowship at the Christie Hospital, Manchester in Oncology Intervention. He returned to The Royal Liverpool University Hospital as a Consultant Interventionalist, sub-specialising in ablative techniques, irreversible electroporation, chemoembolisation and selective internal radiation therapy. At the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, he established several new services and quality improvement programmes including a tunnelled intra-peritoneal drain service for malignant ascites enabling patients to avoid in-patient stays. He also managed a busy and highly successful oncology intervention clinic involving multi-modal imaging techniques and close collaboration with clinicians.
In 2018, Dr. Kibriya obtained a consultant post at Kings College Hospital in HPB/Interventional Radiology joining a team of national experts in this field. He has launched a DEBIRI (Irinotecan loaded drug-eluting beads) service for the treatment of colorectal liver metastases and in the process of creating a national registry. He currently leads several regional multi-disciplinary meetings in HPB, hepatocellular carcinoma and neuro-endocrine tumours.
During his career, he has published papers in numerous peer-reviewed national and international journals including national experiences on DEBIRI and irreversible electroporation. He is also an educational supervisor, reviewer for several journals including Clinical Radiology and Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology and the national proctor for DEBIRI.
