Dr Ajith James trained in Nephrology in Barts and Royal London Hospitals and in General Medicine in Whipps Cross and Southend University Hospitals. Dr James was appointed as a Consultant Nephrologist and Physician, jointly by Barts Health NHS Trust and Barking, Havering & Redbridge NHS Trust in 2009.
Dr. James currently manages a dialysis unit in King George Hospital and is the Clinical Governance Lead for Specialist Medicine. He has widespread experience in nephrology, hypertension, transplantation, general medicine and critical care.
His special interests outside his profession include, information technology and management. He is a keen badminton, tennis and cricket player. When not at work he enjoys cycling and nature walks.

Research
Dr James has wide-spread experience in Clinical Research and Epidemiology. He undertook experimental research in Acute Kidney Injury and clinical trials on Hemodiafiltration under the supervision of Prof Magdi Yaqoob in William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary School of Medicine, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals. He also did a Masters in Epidemiology and Statistics from the prestigious London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
