Ophthalmology (eyes)

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine dealing with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the eye and vision.

Ophthalmology: Eye test

We offer outpatient clinics with Consultant Ophthalmologists every weekday in our dedicated ophthalmic suite, complete with visual fields booth.

Ophthalmology integrates with many other branches of medicine, for example the commonest cause of visual impairment under the age of 65 years is diabetes, and at The Holly Private Hospital your consultant has access to other specialists within the hospital to work with and refer to as appropriate.

Should further treatment be required, the hospital has five fully-equipped theatres where surgery can be carried out.  There is little or no waiting time for surgery, your treatment can start as soon as you are ready.

So, we can care for you from diagnosis through to treatment for a variety of eye conditions including:

  • Age-related macular degeneration
  • Cataracts
  • Diabetic eye disease
  • Eyelid cancers
  • Glaucoma
  • Strabismus (squint)
  • Uveitis

*Please note that you will need a GP referral letter to be able to use most of our services.
