New Innovative Test Available for Patients with Cardiac Arrhythmias
The Holly Private Hospital is pleased to inform patients that we now have the new ZIO® XT Patch Test available for the clinical management of abnormal cardiac arrhythmias.
What is the ZIO® XT Patch?
The new ZIO® XT Patch is a wire-free heart monitor that can be worn for up to 14 days. By continuously recording and monitoring the heart, it provides excellent heart monitoring data, compared with traditional ambulatory cardiac monitoring techniques, which provide just one or two days data.
The patient friendly ZIO® XT Patch captures beat-to-beat cardiac rhythm for up to 14 days, continuously recording and storing both symptomatic and asymptomatic events 24 hours a day.

What is an arrhythmia?
The heart’s rhythm is controlled by electrical signals. An arrhythmia is an abnormality of the heart’s rhythm. It may beat too slowly, too quickly, or irregularly. These abnormalities range from a minor inconvenience or discomfort to a potentially fatal problem.
Could you have an arrhythmia?
Symptoms of arrhythmias include palpitations, feeling dizzy, fainting and being short of breath, although having these symptoms does not always mean you have a heart rhythm problem.
A simple test like the Zio XT Patch, could be all you need to find out whether or not you have an arrhythmia, and what kind you have. Your doctor can use this information to give you the right treatment to control or stop the arrhythmia.
How can I get the ZIO® XT Patch test done?
Consultants and private GPs at The Holly Private Hospital can order this test if they feel you need it. The test is carried out in Outpatients Department.
